The Highland Book Prize and An Lanntair are delighted to present an evening with Stephen Rutt, author of The Seafarers, nominated for the 2019 Highland Book Prize.

Stephen will speak about his experiences on the island of North Ronaldsay, the deep past of seabirds and their plastic-threatened present, as well as the role of nature writing in the 21st century. The Seafarers has been described as “a pelagic poem about the birds that exist at the coastal edges of our islands and consciousness” and won the Saltire Society’s First Book Award.

Stephen will be in conversation with Shell Bromley of Stornoway Writers’ Circle. Come along and hear Stephen read from his first book The Seafarers, and purchase a signed copy after the event.
